Oh Mama, you’ve been up every two hours with the baby, you haven’t had a chance to shower in a week, and you are starting to run past every mirror in sight because you’re scared of what you might see.
I have been there and now I’m here to help!
When you’re raising a family, finding the time to look after yourself and put yourself together can be a major struggle. Between diaper changes, feeding schedules, and chasing after very active children, there is little to no time left for you. But that is okay! Here are 5 ways to wake up in the morning looking great, and they all take minimal time and effort to do.
Just because you are trying to keep the tiny humans alive all day, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t feel your best while doing it.
1. A Good Skin Care Routine
The best thing you can do is invest in a skincare routine that works. I don’t necessarily think you need to spend lots of money on your products, but rather invest your time into finding products that work best for you. When you find the right skincare products, you can wake up in the morning and feel confident in your skin and will feel less of a need to wear makeup (unless you want to, of course!). My favourite way to wake up looking great in the morning is to use an overnight mask. Products specifically targetted to work while you sleep are going to become your best friend! My personal favourites are Drunk Elephant T.L.C Framboos Night Serum and Laneige Water Sleeping Mask.

2. Put On A Fake Tan
I heard someone say once, “If you can’t tone it, tan it” and honestly, these are words I feel in my soul (yes.. I’m dramatic). After having a baby, I am softer in areas than I was pre-baby and that is okay! When I apply a fake tan, I wake up feeling better because a little colour in my skin gives me a healthy glow and a slimmer look. I also feel like I need less makeup when I’ve got a tan on so that is another bonus. I have yet to find someone who doesn’t feel a little more confident when they have a tan!
3. Eyelash Extensions
Also known as, the best time saver ever. I love eyelash extensions. They’re individual fake eyelashes that are glued on to your natural eyelashes to give you fuller, darker, and longer eyelashes. They instantly make you look more wake and you wake up every morning looking amazing! These were how I tricked everyone into thinking I was getting any sleep during the sleep regression… Little did they know! They also eliminate any need for mascara so you can wake up and go in the morning. When you find the right person, you will fall in love with them so be prepared for a long term relationship!
4. Long Lasting Hairstyles
This one takes a little more time upfront, but it is a great time saver for the rest of the week. I have talked about this as a way to have a great hair day everyday and it applies perfectly to this article as well. Once you find the style that you can do and have it last, you are golden! I love curling my hair because I know it will look just a good after sleeping on it for 4 days, as it did when I first styled it.
5. Eyebrow Tinting
If there is one step that I think can transform a makeup look, it’s eyebrows. They frame the entire look and can give your face a lift just by filling them in! But if you have eyebrows like mine, none existent, filling them in can be a big task. I love having filled in eyebrow but hate having to do it. The simple solution? Eyebrow tinting! It’s like hair dye for your eyebrows which last a couple of weeks at a time. It’s a great way to wake up with perfect eyebrows with little to no effort to get there. If you don’t ave time or want to get your eyebrows tinted, Maybelline makes a great substitute which can be done at home in 20 minutes and lasts up to 3 days! More on this product to come as I’ve been testing it out for the past little while.
Waking up feeling good about the way you look can really improve your overall mood everyday. I know when I start to feel down or in a funk I take an evening and pamper myself so that the next day I wake up in the morning looking great, which in turn helps me feel great!
It’s equally as important to take care of yourself as it is to take care of others. Make sure you make YOU priority, too.
